Phoenix presents the latest sound reinforcement technology for churches

The catholic and orthodox oriented fair Catholic Expo 2016 in Cluj-Napoca/Romania is one of the few international trade fairs, which specialized in equipment of churches, cloisters and sacred art. The fair provides a good overview of the latest developments in the range of accessories and technologies for the religious sector — from icon painting and liturgical vestments to church bells and church acoustics.

The trade fair took place for the 4th time in this year. According to the organizers, last year during the three fair days it attracted around 6.000 fair visitors from all around the world to Romania. More than 80 fair exhibitors presented their novelties and trends on the fair and welcomed church representatives, including especially Orthodox, Catholic and Greek Orthodox pastors, and companies that work with the church.

The event took place from October 6th to 8th 2016 on the exhibition ground of Expo Transilvania, where exhibitors and visitors met on this special communication and information platform to exchange ideas about trends and developments in the range of church equipment.

Of course also Phoenix Professional Audio was there and directed the attention of the visitors of the Catholic Expo 2016 entirely to the acoustic challenges of sound transmission in churches.

On the biggest booth for the range of sound concepts and technology systems, Phoenix Professional Audio together with the companies Rduch Bells & Clocks and the bell foundry Pracownia Ludwisarska Jana Felczynskiego presented with numerous novelties, innovative products and customized acoustic solutions its comprehensive competence around the perfect sound in churches.

Fair visitors showed great interest in Phoenix’ active DIGIVOICE sound columns (dsp steerable line arrays) with beam steering technology.

By a superiour mathematical calculation of the optimum parameters, the integrated DSP core (audio signal processor) provides a precise directional radiation and a high precision directivity. The elegant speaker systems totally consist of 8 or 16 software-controlled DSP channels.

The electronic controllability of these high-end active speaker systems (beam steering) ensures a very homogeneous sound distribution with a minimum of sound reflections, providing an excellent speech intelligibility throughout the sound area THE solution for perfect sound transmission in chuches.

The visitors of the Phoenix booth could even experience the sound technology of the top class, beam steering, live:

Impressed by the emotional and at the same time bass-accented, precise reproduction of choral sounds by the new beam-controlled mobile sound system PV LIVE, many visitors stopped at the booth of Phoenix and listened with great interest.

The state-of-the-art beam steering technology integrated in the modular system achieves a perfect smooth sound coverage in the whole area and thus provides a customized sound reinforcement.

The fair visitors also showed special interest in the wide range of digital automatic mixing amplifiers of the POWER VOICE series with extensive DSP audio signal processing possibilities.

An essential element of the intensive conversations with the fair visitors also were the new MEG gooseneck microphones with metal microphone head and LED lighting.

The special features of the new models without foam cover and with thin gooseneck (6 mm) are the built-in filter for effective suppression of pop noises, the improved extremely linear frequency response and a very high reverse loss.

One of the numerous innovations on the Phoenix booth also were the newly developed elegant design microphone stand systems MEGZ-5 with floor fixed base and electrete condenser microphone capsule with hyper cardioid characteristics. Due to its special mechanical construction, the new microphone system appears like a long microphone gooseneck protruding from the ground.

Another visitor magnet was also the newly developed DSP controlled speaker system K4-60DSP1A by Phoenix, which provides excellent acoustic results even in mobile applications.

With this innovation, communication is experienced „close up“, as the sound directly hits the listeners by the perfect room equalization by parametric filter (15 x PEQ). The system has especially been developed for the sound transmission in acoustically difficult rooms with long reverberation times like f.i. churches and cathedrals.

In a pleasant and professional atmosphere with great visitor interest on all exhibition days, the Catholic Expo 2016 provided an ideal information channel for the international audience.

After the successful fair presence with very positive response in Cluj-Napoca, the Phoenix Professional Audio team would like to thank all visitors very much. We were very happy to present our innovations to the trade partners and end users in this great atmosphere and to make interesting new contacts!
