It is used as a pure audio receiver for people whose hearing aid does not have a "T-position", or for monitoring or controlling the field strength and quality of the transmission of an induction loop system.

Induction loop systems are very often used in churches, cinemas, theaters, outlets, bank counters, interpreter systems or DRIVE-INs or DRIVE-THROUGHs, so that hearing aid wearers can hear much better even under severe acoustic conditions (background noise, reverberation etc.) without disturbing noises.
By transmitting an audio signal through an induction loop, an acceptable signal-to-noise ratio is achieved. A purely acoustic, direct sound transmission (between speaker and hearing aid) is often significantly impaired by reverberation and background noise. Above all, the perception and speech intelligibility of the useful signal by the hearing aid wearer is adversely affected.
